Build a practical understanding of cybersecurity concepts, risks and safeguards through relatable examples, guided activities and realistic workplace scenarios. The course provides foundational knowledge that can support further cybersecurity learning, skills development and future study. This is a beginner-level course. No previous cybersecurity, networking, programming or technical experience is required. Lessons are short (about 5 to 8 minutes), use plain language, and follow one fictional organization, BrightPath Community Services, across all modules. This course is not certification training, certification preparation, or a professional accreditation, and it does not guarantee employment. Learners who complete all modules, the capstone, and the final assessment (70% or higher) receive an eSafeguards Certificate of Completion.

The five fundamental risk concepts and how they connect.

Module 4: Common Cyber Threats and Attacks

Phishing, malware, account attacks, insider threats, data exposure and supply-chain risks, and how to respond.

Module 5: Essential Cybersecurity Safeguards

Passwords, MFA, updates, access control, secure sharing, backups, and physical and remote-work security.

Module 6: Information Protection and Responsible Digital Behaviour

Recognizing sensitive information, classification, secure handling, disposal, and responsible use of AI tools.

Module 7: Incident Recognition, Reporting and Recovery

Recognizing incidents, warning signs, safe actions, reporting, evidence preservation, and recovery.

Module 8: How Organizations Manage Cybersecurity

Governance, policies, risk management, compliance, security operations, major domains, and next steps.

Module 9: Capstone — Protect BrightPath

Apply everything to secure BrightPath's new client portal and produce a personal cybersecurity action plan.
