1. Data We Collect
We collect the information you provide at registration and use, such as your name, email address, and account type (student or instructor), as well as your course enrollments, progress, and reviews. We also automatically collect usage data such as pages viewed and interactions to improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and manage your account and course access.
- To process payments and deliver receipts (via our payment provider, Stripe).
- To track and report your course progress and completion.
- To communicate updates about courses you are enrolled in.
- To operate and improve the Service and detect abuse or fraud.
3. Cookies & Consent
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand how the Service is used. On your first visit we ask for your consent via a banner; your choice is stored locally and can be revisited by clearing your browser storage. You may disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not function.
4. Payment Data
Payment card data is collected and processed solely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We may retain records of transactions for accounting and support purposes.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help operate the platform (such as Stripe and our hosting provider), or where required by law. Instructors can see enrollment and progress data for their own courses only.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and progress data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account; we will remove personal data except where we are legally required to retain it (e.g., transaction records).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us through our main website.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will remove it.
9. PIPEDA Compliance
We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our practices follow its ten principles: accountability; identifying purposes; consent; limiting collection; limiting use, disclosure, and retention; accuracy; safeguards; openness; individual access; and challenging compliance. We only collect information needed to operate the Service, safeguard it appropriately, and retain it no longer than necessary. You can access and correct your personal information in Communication Preferences or by contacting us.
10. Commercial Messages (CASL)
Marketing emails are sent in accordance with Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL) and CRTC guidance. We obtain your express consent before sending marketing messages (you may opt in at registration or in Communication Preferences). Every commercial message identifies eSafeguards Consulting Inc. as the sender and includes a working unsubscribe link. You may withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time at Communication Preferences. Course-update and account notices sent to enrolled students are transactional and not dependent on marketing consent, but still include an unsubscribe option.
